Well here is one of my ideas

The lands are empty, everyone is gone, giant cities deserted, empty ships at the middle of the ocean, Azeroth is empty of civilization. But survivors from all the different races still stand, nature is still fine and friendly, everything except for cities, towns, villages and military outposts is almost completely unharmed, in exception of the emptyness. But the formerly populated areas are burned down, destroyed and crawling with horrific creatures who have yet to be seen without a scream of death shortly afterwards. What could have done this? Not many know and most people left, if not all have lost their memories of what the world looked like before.. Now most stand alone and wander the lands, looking for other "survivors" to start a new nation, maybe take back their old capitals and maybe even.. conquer the world?

Even tho I doubt this will go through, it's posted now. If we ever get a server.

People would most probably have to make applications before they make their nations, kingdoms and they might get 1 npc for every player that joins and IC/NPC numbers from certain events. To avoid total loneliness, starting out with only 1-3 areas would be recommended. All this is basicly just.. right out of my mind. As in: Not that much thought put in to it.

IC(NPC?) count: 50
Total member count: 70 (Necromancer nations could exceed in numbers, since their numbers stagger every military victory, tho their undead minions have pretty low quality)

Btw, i'd happily spawn ruined stuff at cities.
Like, Ironforge could be cut to half due to a cave-in, and maybe a bridge in Thunder Bluff has falled or something.
Cave-in goes for Undercity too, and perhaps Orgrimmar, as it is built in a big rock valley.

Now here comes a question:
What is our timeline?

Well the timeline for this would probably be.. beginning of vanilla wow, but it has nothing to do with actual wow, many of the dragons could be dead, heck, the dark portal might even be open, lich king could be a goner etc..

I'm not sure how destroyed all the cities are going to be. But I am thinking some of them might be well preserved.

How about one city stands for all races?
As the Burning Legion, the Scourge, and old gods battles has destroyed so much of the world that they force to band togheter, liking it or not, in a single nation, as their lands fall more and more to the incoming enemies, fighting bravely...

Come to think of it, the scar from Cataclysm (might have spelled that wrong) could fit this nicely.

But I was thinking the dark factions within Azeroth would also be in a pretty low shape and most "new" evil people would be played by actual players.

Sidenote about your application: 20 members at start would be a bit.. OMG IMBA WTF if I don't change the system some more.

I get it, but I don't entirely like it. I'd say you go around trying to gather up the guys (players) and start out with the regular 0-2 NPCes, 1 player.

Out on lonely islands in Dustwallow marsh, lost in the marsh, stuck in a house for a very long time.. I was going to say something smart but I forgot what it was..

Some of them might quite simply have died like alot of others.

Ofcourse your men can be there! It could become an event for you to get larger IC numbers without having to get new players.

What i meant was using the island as our base. Taken over. We win. The end.
But you mean like, Darkwatchers being captive there, right?
If so, if i've got like 3 players, against that islands like 100 nagas and hydras, wth do we do in the event to rescue moar?

Oh, yeah.

Well, looking at the original idea closer, i must say that ALL over Azeroth being like, ruins, would be alittle meh.
Large parts, or most of it, sure, but all of it? I dunno.
